Jennie Hagen, 70

Jennie Bee Hagen, age 70, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Jennie was born on February 17, 1955 in Sturgis, the daughter of the late Roy and Violet (Hughes) Miller. A lifelong resident of Sturgis, she graduated from Sturgis High School and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.

On October 12, 1994, she was united in marriage to Edward John Hagen in Centreville. They shared many years together until his passing on May 31, 2023.

Jennie retired following the closure of Ram Products in Sturgis, where she served for several years as plant manager. She had also worked as a supervisor at Michiana Corrugated Paper Company, earning the respect of colleagues through her leadership and work ethic.

She was a former member of several community organizations, including Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Sturgis Chapter #613, and Eagles Lodge #1314. Jennie had a creative soul, enjoying writing short stories and poetry, as well as working on puzzles and collecting owls. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and cherished their gatherings.

Jennie is survived by her children: Sam Lytle of Sturgis, Peggy Lytle of Sturgis, and Brandy Lytle of Bronson; stepdaughter: Amy Decker of Mendon; grandchildren: Harley, Tristan, Rachel, Jasmine, Devin, Amber, Lona and Amanda; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; grandson, Dakota; sisters: Cheryl Jourdan and Susan D. Cowan; brothers: Larry Miller, Ron Miller, and Douglas Miller; half-sisters: Marjorie Crocker, Lois Wadsworth, Edith Hakes, and Patricia McNabb; and half-brother: Charles Miller.

In honoring Jennie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:30 on Monday, July 28, at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at Gracepoint Baptist Church in Sturgis.
