Alan VandenBosch, 65

Alan R. VandenBosch, age 65, of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, August 1, 2025, while working at Abbott Nutrition in Sturgis.

He was born on July 11, 1960 in Allegan, the son of the late Alvin and Lydia (Kinny) VandenBosch. Alan had made Sturgis his home for more than four decades, where he built a life rooted in love, hard work, and a deep connection to the community.

On August 6, 1998, he married the love of his life, Fay Dearduff, in LaGrange. Together they created a blended and loving family, surrounded by children, grandchildren, and a shared devotion to family life.

Alan was employed with Abbott Nutrition for the past five years and previously dedicated ten years to Keystone RV Company in Goshen. A man of quiet strength and generosity, he was baptized and attended St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sturgis and actively supported local recovery and support groups—always ready to lend a helping hand.

He found great joy in the outdoors. Whether he was riding his motorcycle, kayaking, or camping, Alan felt most at peace in nature. Though he had many passions, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his family.

Alan is survived by his devoted wife, Fay; daughters: Alexis VandenBosch of Florida, Brideget Burkhead of Sturgis, Ashley Lucas of Bronson, and Nikki Prichard of Centreville; sons: Christopher Burkhead of Sturgis, Jason Bickel of Sturgis, and Alan Paul “AP” VandenBosch of Ann Arbor. He was a proud grandfather to Deyvon, Icaak, Gabriel, Alyssa, Nevaeh, Zayden, Zoiee, Dawson, Ava, Dottie, Bly, Dwan, Gage, and Roselynn. Also surviving are his brothers, Brain VandenBosch and Jim VandenBosch, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cynthia VandenBosch.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Alan’s life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, August 17th at Pine Knob County Park, 2825 E State Rd. 120, Howe, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate a life well lived.
