GOCC President takes on new board role

Glen Oaks Community College President Bryan Newton has been elected to the board of directors for the Community College Alliance for Agriculture Advancement.

Newton, who took over as Glen Oaks president a year ago, will represent the Midwest region, which comprises 10 rural colleges committed to agricultural excellence.

Glen Oaks recently joined the alliance, a USDA-affiliated consortium of rural colleges committed to improving sustainable farming practices. It also attempts to prepare students for evolving careers in agriculture and natural resources.

Newton’s role with the board will center on helping guide the strategy and expansion of the alliance’s national initiatives.
