Glen Oaks Community College President Bryan Newton received high marks during his first-year evaluation by the school’s board of trustees.
College officials said Newton was rated “outstanding” for his leadership and contributions during his first 12 months at the helm.
The review, recently conducted by Glen Oaks Board of Trustees, assessed Newton’s performance in six categories: fiscal management, external and internal relations, leadership, institutional performance, personal qualities and relations with board members.
Trustees evaluated his progress toward goals established at the start of his presidency, and his ability to advance the mission and vision of the college.
Board president Bruce Gosling said Newton quickly established himself as an engaged, visible and collaborative leader.
Newton has been credited for advancing several strategic initiatives, including expanding workforce-training partnerships, strengthening enrollment outreach, and guiding the college through its Higher Learning Commission accreditation review.
