The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners recently approved a strategic plan.
The eight-goal plan applies to St. Joseph County as a government entity.
Presented to the board of commissioners at its monthly meeting last week, the strategic plan was put together over the course of several months by consultant Allyson Brunette.
With input from county officials, the plan’s goals are: preserving rural identity; addressing burnout and recruitment; planning for facility needs; promoting outdoor recreation as an economic-development strategy; addressing local housing shortage; reacting to funding volatility; addressing youth outmigration; and increasing public trust.
Next, Brunette will work with commissioners to fine-tune the county’s mission/vision statement before the end of the year.
