United Way begins fundraising for new facility

St. Joseph County United Way has launched a capital campaign aimed at funding the construction of a new facility.

The new site is to be built on Shimmel Road, just south of St. Joseph County Intermediate School District’s headquarters.

Agency officials said the new location will provide greater accessibility and visibility to continue strong collaboration with local education and community services.

Funding for the new facility will come exclusively from the capital campaign, and will not reduce or redirect dollars raised for the United Way’s 40 partner agencies and annual community programs.

The new building and property will allow the organization to expand its capacity, improve operational efficiency and creating room for new initiatives that meet evolving community needs, agency officials said.

Meanwhile, board chairman David Northrop said community leader and St. Joseph County United Way supporter Tony Percival will chair the capital campaign.

While Percival leads the Capital Campaign efforts, executive director Kelly Hostetler will continue spearheading annual fundraising to support direct services and programs for the St. Joseph County United Way’s network of local non-profit partners.
