A Sturgis man faces a number of felony charges for crimes he allegedly committed 20 years ago in Branch County.
Michigan State Police Det./Sgt. Matt Berry said 49-year-old Ricardo Arroyo faces first-degree and second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges after the victims came forward in December with details of the alleged incidents.
The victims – sisters who were ages 8 and 6 at the time – alleged Arroyo began molesting and then assaulting them in 2005.
A probable cause affidavit stated Arroyo moved with the victims’ mother to Corey Street in Bronson, where he lived with them. The alleged assaults took place while the mother worked or was sleeping.
Arroyo appeared in Branch County District Court Friday. Bond was set at $250,000 and a public defender was appointed.
A probable-cause conference is scheduled for Sept. 18 and preliminary examination Sept. 24.
