The St Joseph County Sheriff Department reports it is investigating larceny of irrigation wire from a field in the 52000 block of U.S. 131 in Park Township. The incident occurred sometime between June 30 and Wednesday morning. The victim told investigators two spools of irrigation wire were taken.

A 55-year-old Sturgis man was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital early Wednesday morning for injuries he received in a fight between he and another subject at the Maple Towers Apartment complex. More State Police Patrols

St. Joseph County is one of 26 counties in Michigan to receive funding for enhanced law-enforcement patrol specifically targeting drunken drivers. The additional enforcement has been in place since last weekend and will continue through Sunday. The Michigan Office of Highway Planning has provided the funding to cover the cost of additional state police patrols.

Authorities in northern Indiana say a passenger in an Amish buggy was killed when it turned into a passing semitrailer on a rural highway.  The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department says the person killed in Monday’s crash was thrown from the buggy along with the driver and two other passengers. Woman injured in lake mishap

Authorities say a 23-year-old Kalamazoo woman lost part of her leg in a boating accident on a southwestern Michigan lake.  Mlive.com and radio station WKZO identify her as Kirshaiah Brodie-Stevenson. Police in Kalamazoo say they’ve learned who was in a vehicle with a decorative vehicle plate quoting a song by Hank Williams Jr. involved in a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a pedestrian.   Capt.
