Accepting grant applications

Officials from the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation announced the agency is accepting grant applications through the end of the month. Eligible applicants include schools, government entities, and other 501(c)3 organizations within the City of Three Rivers and surrounding townships.  Final grant awards will require 25 percent matching funds. Contract renewed

The Three Rivers Health System Board announced at its June meeting that the hospital’s management contract with the company Quorum Health Resources has been renewed. Chief Executive Officer William Russell said he is pleased that the System Board has confidence in Tennessee-based QHR to operate the hospital, and he looks forward to continue serving the board and community.

No-wake order from Sheriff

The boat launch at Prairie Lake in Sherman Township has temporarily been closed due to high water levels and local flooding. There has also been a no-wake order placed into effect on the lake. Unemployment increases

The May unemployment rate in St. Joseph County increased by eight-tenths of a percent compared to a month earlier. The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed St. Joseph County’s 7.7 percent May unemployment rate was more than April’s 6.9 percent.
