Police say a pickup truck driver ran down several Canada Goose babies that were attempting to cross a suburban Detroit roadway. Limited use of rifles for hunting

The House Tourism Committee last week approved a bill allowing limited use of rifles for deer hunting in an area now limited to shotguns, muzzleloaders and pistols. Introduced by State Rep. Bills approved by the House

State Rep. Matt Lori played a role in a package of bills approved this week by the House Criminal Justice Committee. Three of the bills lower the blood-alcohol content level from the current 0.10 to 0.08 percent for operators of boats, off-road vehicles and snowmobiles. The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant Wednesday in the 400 block of Walnut Street in the city of Dowagiac. Sheriff investigating home invasion

Officers from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a home invasion that occurred last week in Park Township. Investigators said access was gained Thursday to a residence in the 54000 block of Wilbur Road through an unlocked door. Prescription medications, coins and a large amount of jewelry were stolen from the residence.
