The Centreville Downtown Development Authority recently oversaw the completion of a village-wide improvement focusing on new street signs. Sturgis approves curbside recycling

The Sturgis City Commission recently approved the five-year renewal of its curbside recycling with an Indiana-based company. The arrangement with Borden Waste-Away of Elkhart continues an agreement reached in 2008 and it maintains the $1.92-per-household unit price. The city pays for the curbside recycling program with a state-authorized surcharge of $2 per month, collected annually on the summer tax bill. …

Michigan – Right to Work state

Governor Rick Snyder Tuesday signed legislation making Michigan the 24th “right-to-work’ state in the nation. Snyder signed the bills less than five hours after the Michigan House gave final approval to the so-called “right to work” legislation, which prohibits requirements that workers pay a fee that would go to a union as a condition of employment.

Coldwater gets an $11 million gift

A southern Michigan community is getting an $11 million gift to build an aquatic center and expand an area recreation facility.   Coldwater city leaders on Monday announced that Dr. Robert W. Cars broken into at factory

Three vehicles parked in the employee lot at a Sturgis factory were broken in to last week. Sturgis Police were called to Sturgis Molded Products in response to larceny incidents. In all cases, car windows were shattered and a number of items were taken from the vehicles. The incidents occurred between 8 and 11:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

Students at Western Michigan University are being urged to use caution following a pair of armed robberies that took place within minutes on campus.  A woman was robbed Thursday night near a residence hall.  Police say a man was robbed a few minutes later on the west end of the campus school’s Kalamazoo campus.  No one was injured and police say young men are …
