A longtime township official in St. Joseph County passed away last week after a brief illness. Joe Eichorn, former supervisor of Park Township, died Wednesday. The 63-year-old Three Rivers-area resident was given medical leave from the Park Township Board of Trustees. Eichorn was elected township supervisor in 2008. Sheriff’s officials said the incident took place Sept. 2 in the 65000 block of Burr Oak Road. Investigators said the suspect broke into a building and stole five, 5-gallon cans filled with gas.
