An Edwardsburg resident died in a crash shortly before 7:00 Monday evening. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, 40-year-old Jennifer Johnson was westbound on Calvin Hill Street, when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree, causing a fatal injury. A seat belt was worn. Road conditions were slick at the time of the accident.

Authorities say two people were found dead following a fire in northern Indiana. Crews responded early Sunday to a 911 call reporting a fire in Elkhart County, near Goshen. A Sherman Township residence was forcibly entered and burglarized last week. Sheriff’s deputies were called around 9:30 p.m. Thursday to the 63000 block of East Fish Lake Road. November’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County was six-tenths of a percent lower than the previous month. The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed the county’s 3.6 percent November unemployment rate marked a decrease from October’s 4.2 percent.
