Police investigate theft from welcome center

State police investigators are looking into separate incidents of theft of money from vending machines at a Coldwater-area welcome center. The incidents occurred Aug. 16 and again Aug. 22 at the Michigan Welcome Center along northbound I-69. Investigators said the machines were pried open and money was taken in both cases.

Woman faces trial in drunken driving crash that killed boy

A southwestern Michigan woman has been ordered to stand trial in connection with a rollover crash that killed a 4-year-old boy. The Kalamazoo Gazette reports that 24-year-old Nicole Camden waived a preliminary examination Tuesday in Kalamazoo County District Court. Five tornadoes tallied after survey of weekend storm damage

Weekend storms that swept across parts of southwestern and western Michigan also spawned at least five tornadoes. State police troopers are investigating a break-in at a residence in White Pigeon Township over the weekend. The victim told police someone broke into an attached garage in the 19000 block of Fawn River Road and stole a Yamaha Bruin four-wheel, all-terrain vehicle.
