Collision causes injuries

Three people were treated for minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident last week in Centreville. Police said a 17-year-old Centreville woman stopped on Shimmel Road at M-86, and proceeded to turn in front of an eastbound vehicle driven by a 39-year-old Middlebury woman. Woman sentenced for theft

A Kalamazoo woman was sentenced to three months in jail and two years of probation for her role in the theft of money from the UAW Local 2093 account. Nearly $80,000 in funds from the Three Rivers-based Local 2093 was stolen by Jacquelyn Copper, a six-year member of the UAW board. She pled guilty over the summer to a charge …

A 47-year-old Sturgis man was arrested on drug-related charges after he attempted to flee on a bicycle from pursuing officers. Suspect arrested near Vandalia

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department has apprehended a man who is a suspect in the armed robbery last week of the Hilltop Gas Station Union. Acting on a tip, Edward Wing was taken into custody from a location in Calvin Township. Wing was the subject of a manhunt Monday after he fled from police into a cornfield south of Vandalia.

Increased fee for marriage waiver

Members of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners have agreed to increase the fee for a marriage waiver. During Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners acted on Clerk Pattie Bender’s request to raise the fee from $5 to $25.
