The St Joseph County Sheriff Department reports it is investigating larceny of irrigation wire from a field in the 52000 block of U.S. 131 in Park Township. The incident occurred sometime between June 30 and Wednesday morning. The victim told investigators two spools of irrigation wire were taken.

A 55-year-old Sturgis man was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital early Wednesday morning for injuries he received in a fight between he and another subject at the Maple Towers Apartment complex. Relay for Life raised money

Organizers of last month’s Three Rivers Relay for Life said more than $122,000 was raised through the 24-hour event. Event chair Danielle Rohrer said proceeds are turned over to the American Cancer Society. The June 22 event in Three Rivers attracted 43 teams and also drew 115 cancer survivors who participated in the Survivors Lap.

More State Police Patrols

St. Joseph County is one of 26 counties in Michigan to receive funding for enhanced law-enforcement patrol specifically targeting drunken drivers. The additional enforcement has been in place since last weekend and will continue through Sunday. The Michigan Office of Highway Planning has provided the funding to cover the cost of additional state police patrols.
