5k raised money for Three Rivers Promise

Organizers of last weekend’s “Run For the Future” fundraiser, sponsored by Three Rivers Promise, was declared a success. Together, participants of the 5K run as well as the 1-mile walk helped raise about $17,000 as part of the third-annual event. County unemployment rate down

March’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by one-tenth of a percent from February. Figures from the monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 4.2 percent in February to 4.1 percent in March. Strong winds proved to be a nemesis to firefighters attempting to extinguish a blaze at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds Saturday, according to Centreville Fire Chief Dave Miracle.
