Serious injuries in Colon Township crash

A Mendon man was seriously injured when his pickup crashed in a field on M-66 Wednesday evening in Colon Township. County sheriff’s deputies said 22-year-old Steven Wickey was driving the vehicle during farming operations when it overturned. Wickey was ejected, and sustained serious injuries. Investigating officers said speed and the lack of seat belt use were factors in the incident.

A Sturgis man, wanted on outstanding warrants, was arrested Sunday in the 700 block of South Centerville Road. According to Sturgis police, officers were called at 6:30 p.m. in response to a suspicious person in a parking lot. Four departments from three counties battled a house fire Monday in Flowerfield Township. Firefighters were summoned at 1:30 p.m. to a home in 54000 block of DeLong Road in Flowerfield Township. Man accused of dragging deputy posts bond

The man accused of ramming a St. Joseph County Sheriff ’s vehicle, dragging a deputy and leading a high-speed pursuit has been released from jail. Conservation District names Volunteer of the Year
