Two people were arrested following a recent traffic stop in Sturgis. An officer with the Sturgis Police Department stopped a vehicle for improper registration at 5 a.m. Monday. Man arrested after hitting patrol car

A 47-year-old man was arrested last week after the vehicle he was driving struck a Cass County patrol vehicle. The incident occurred after authorities had stopped another vehicle for a speeding violation. Sturgis City Commission has authorized facilities manager Dan Root to move forward with purchase of equipment to help maintain the new softball fields and Little League fields. Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Cass County’s Wayne Township. Man arrested for assaulting officer

A 23-year-old Sturgis man was arrested following an incident shortly after 5 a.m. Friday in the 1700 block of South Centerville Road. Officers were dispatched to a report of a disorderly person and when they arrived, police found the man to become increasingly combative and he struck an officer during the investigation. He was charged with assaulting an officer.

K-Wings winless over holiday weekend

The Kalamazoo Wings (4-10-0-1) came up winless in three games over the holiday weekend and now find themselves mired in a six-game losing streak.
