Pauline Salisbury, 90

Pauline M. Salisbury, age 90, formerly of Three Rivers and Mendon, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Batavia Township.  She was born in Wakeshma Township on May 11, 1919 the daughter of N. Daniel and Marguerite (Jackson) Carkenord.  Pauline graduated from Mendon High School in 1936 and attended cosmetology school in Detroit.  She was married to Russell W. Salisbury on Sep. 24, 1939 in Hastings.  They operated a filling station near Parkville for several years. 

Pauline was a former member of the Parkville Grange, the Eagles Auxiliary in Three Rivers, the Mendon Golden-Agers, and the Eucre Club at the American Legion.  She especially loved square dancing, traveling, and outdoor activities.

Pauline is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Collins of Three Rivers, Donna Michalski (David) of Coldwater, and Patsy Gould (Ken) of Winchester, TN;  1 son, Richard Salisbury of Three Rivers;  15 grandchildren;  26 great-grandchildren;  3 great-great-grandchildren;  1 sister, Donna Hiemstra of Tuscon, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband, Russell in 1985; and by 2 brothers, Lee and Bill Carkenord.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Ward Pierce, Pastor of the Mendon & West Mendon United Methodist Churches officiating.  Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to either the family, or the C.H.C Home Health Hospice.  Online register is available and condolences may be left at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
