Eugene L. Miller, age 82, of Sturgis, passed away late Tuesday evening, Nov. 10, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born June 26, 1927, in Sturgis, a son of the late Elmer and Elsie (Bush) Miller.
Gene was a lifelong resident of Sturgis. He married Virginia Ankney in LaGrange, Ind. She died March 13, 2001.
All of his working life was with Sturgis Newport Business Forms.
He was a member of the Sturgis Christian Fellowship Center and Loyal Order of Moose #574.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca McAlister of White Pigeon and Kathleen Miller of Sturgis; a son, Phillip Miller of Shipshewana, Ind.; three grandchildren, Aaron, Derrick and Samantha; three great-grandchildren, Dominick, Kaydin and Jaice; a sister, Florence Flowers of Burr Oak; two brothers, Robert Miller and Kenneth Miller, both of Burr Oak; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and several brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Eugene L. Miller will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Glenn Middleton of the Christian Fellowship Center in Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
