June Lewis, 96

S. June Lewis, 96, of Three Rivers, passed away early Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Riverview Nursing Home. She was born on Sept. 20, 1913 in Logansport, Ind. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Carson.

June graduated from the University of Indiana as a Registered Nurse and later went to work for the Three Rivers Hospital, for many years where she formed many lasting relationships. June was known as the family and neighborhood nurse and never missed a chance to heal people. She was also an avid volunteer with the Red Cross.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mr. Harry Lewis, who passed in 1991; one sister, Helen; one brother, Carl Carson.

June leaves to cherish her memory her loving family, one son, Keith Lewis of Three Rivers; three grandchildren, Lindsay (Derek) Dewees, Josh (Catherine) Lewis and Justin Lewis, all of Kalamazoo; two great-grandchildren, Chaise and Aden Dewees; special niece, Mrs. June Bell of Three Rivers; great-nephew, Adam (Melinda) Cooper and their daughters, Addy and Maya Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 26 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Terrell of Temple Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be held in Fort Custer Cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to Three Rivers Hospice or the Red Cross. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
