Janice Marie Sgambelluri, age 71, of Bronson, passed away early Monday evening, Dec. 5, 2011, at Borgess medical Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born Sept. 26, 1940, in Sherman Township, a daughter of the late Clarence and Alice (Wallman) Teadt.
Janice had resided in Bronson for the past 48 years. Before moving to Bronson, she had lived her entire life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1959.
On Dec. 18, 1965, she married Carlo Alton Sgambelluri at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
Janice was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a 50-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis, where for many years she was active in the altar guild.
Janice enjoyed motorcycling with her husband, but what she truly cherished was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Carlo Alton Sgambelluri; two sons, the Rev. Carlo Antonio (Meredith) Sgambelluri II of West Branch and Rodney Lee (Rhonda) Sgambelluri of Bronson; a daughter, Elizabeth Marie (Michael) Stewart of Coldwater; eight grandchildren, Alicia, Adam, Elizabeth, Arthur, Christopher, Chaz, Jordan and Tasha; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Elaine Teadt of Sturgis; three nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sonia Sgambelluri; two sisters, Betty Smoker and Barbara Ogden; and a brother, Eugene Teadt.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Janice Sgambelluri will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
