A funding issue has forced Planned Parenthood to close its offices in St. Joseph and Branch counties.
The impending closure of the Three Rivers and Coldwater sites will follow the same course of action already taken in Sturgis and Hillsdale.
Recipients of Planned Parenthood’s offerings will have to travel to Kalamazoo or Battle Creek to continue receiving services. The agency will continue to receive state funding, but the amount it was provided from the state was not enough to help it stay open in St. Joseph, Branch or Hillsdale counties, Planned Parenthood officials said.
They said most-common services, including cancer screenings, pap tests, breast-health services and birth control, will continue to be offered at the sites in Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties.
