GREENVILLE GETS REVENGE

Avenging a Thursday night loss to the Kalamazoo Wings, the Greenville Road Warriors stormed out of the gates earning all of their offense in the first period to defeat the K-Wings 5-2 Saturday night at the BI-LO Center.

Like two nights before, the teams combined for seven goals, but unlike Thursday, it was Greenville that posted five goals against Kalamazoo. Trying to clear the puck out of their own zone, a pass hit off Nick Sirota and bounced to Lee Baldwin (5th), who rifled a slap shot past Maxime Clermont 1:58 into the contest.

Finding the loose puck in a scrum in front of the Greenville net, Dustin Cloutier tied the game at 1-1 by notching his sixth goal of the season 5:41 into the period.

After three unanswered goals from Brandon Wong (14th), Jeff Caister (2nd) and Brent Robinson (17th) made the score 4-1 in favor of Greenville; Kalamazoo fought back with a power-play goal from Darren Archibald (8th).

Brendan Connelly (21st) lengthened the lead back to three goals late in the first period scoring 18:43 into the stanza.

The five goals surrendered by the K-Wings in the first period, where most allowed by the team in a single period this season.

Scoring reached a halt for the remaining 40 minutes, as neither team registered on the scoreboard the rest of the game.

Kalamazoo will conclude their four-game road swing tomorrow, Sunday, February 12th with a 4:05 p.m. encounter against the Greenville Road Warriors.

The K-Wings will return home on Tuesday, February 14th with a 7 p.m. face-off versus the Cincinnati Cyclones during the 12th Annual Pink Ice Game, presented by WKFR and WWMT.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $12.90 and $16.90 for adults and only $6.90 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year’s Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $1.
