The trial of a 21-year-old Sturgis woman who is a suspect in the alleged murder of her 2-year-old child is expected to be postponed.
The case involves Paige Bohne, who is accused of allegedly killing her child last month at a residence in Memory Lane Mobile Home Park in Sturgis Township. Bohne was originally charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Trial was scheduled to start Jan. 14. The delay is likely, however, as prosecutor-elect Deb Davis stated additional evidence is being sought. It is expected to include Bohne’s cell phone data, toxicology reports for Bohne and the victim, an autopsy report and information from the phone of Bohne’s apparent significant other.
Davis indicated earlier this week to St. Joseph County Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman that the trial might not begin until at least March.
Arrested, locked up and scheduled for trial before basic evidence is in? Hope the jury hasn’t already found her guilty.
