Everblades defeat K-Wings 2-0 in series opener

KALAMAZOO- The Florida Everblades scored a goal in each of the first two periods and goaltender Pat Nagle turned away all 34 shots he faced as they defeated the Kalamazoo Wings by a score of 2-0 on Friday night. The Everblades take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series.

Riley Gill, the K-Wings net minder turned in a 36 save performance in the loss, all but keeping the K-Wings within striking distance the entire night but the K-Wings were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

Bobby Raymond scored the eventual game winner for the Everblades 15:44 into the opening period. Trevor Bruess knocked in the insurance marker midway into the second period for the two goal lead.

The K-Wings came up empty on four power play opportunities while the Everblades were unable to score on their five chances.

Game Two is Saturday night (April 28th) at Wings Stadium with face-off set for 7:30 pm.
