World Record fell short

An attempt to break the world record for the most number of strollers pushed at the same time fell short Saturday.

Nonetheless, organizers behind the event at Glen Oaks Community College said the effort was still a worthwhile affair.

Amy Brauer, coordinator of the St. Joseph County Great Start Collaborative, said the attempt brought attention to nearly a dozen area children- and family-related agencies that set up display tables during the event.

From the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Health Department and the St. Joseph County Child Abuse/Neglect agency, to Brauer’s Great Start Collaborative, the record-breaking attempt served as a good public-relations opportunity for the various participating agencies.

About two dozen people took part in what was billed as a Family Stroll for Early Childhood. Those who did participate said the one-mile trek was a pleasant experience under sunny skies.
