Three Rivers wins snowman contest

The city of Three Rivers was declared the winning municipality in a five-community  snowman-making contest Saturday.

Ten teams drawing a total of more than 50 people took part in the two-hour event. In all, the Three Rivers entry made 421 snowmen, topping the output of teams from Douglas, Saline, St. Clair and Zeeland.

Three Rivers will receive a traveling trophy to hold until the annual competition resumes in 2015. Organized by the city of Three Rivers and the Downtown Development Authority, the event had been cancelled the past two years due to lack of snow.
