Michigan residents are tipping their hats to Kalamazoo native Derek Jeter in a tribute video to the retiring New York Yankees captain. The video has been in production since July and is inspired by Nike’s tribute commercial. The local video features teachers from Kalamazoo Central High School who taught Jeter, as well as former classmates and old friends. The public can participate in a group hat-tip filming on Sept. 18 in Kalamazoo. The final video will be sent to Jeter and posted online. Jeter is retiring after 19 seasons with the Yankees. The 14-time All-Star has been honored at Major League ballparks around the country this year, including by former President George W. Bush, who gave him a photo from his presidential library in Texas. (AP)
