The “One Book, One County” program, sponsored by St. Joseph County’s public libraries, is staging its meet-the-author event Thursday in Sturgis.
The book selected by a committee for this year’s event was Annie’s Ghosts.
Penned by Detroit native Steve Luxenberg, Annie’s Ghosts is a nonfiction piece about Luxenberg’s quest to learn more about his mother’s sister. The woman in question was mentally and physically disabled, and remained a secret until Luxenberg’s mother admitted to her family shortly before her death that she had a sister.
Luxenberg, who went on to work as a reporter and editor for the Washington Post, will talk about the book before a question-and-answer session during his appearance.
The program is at 7 p.m. at Sturges-Young Auditorium.
