The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department has announced its 2016 schedule for boater safety classes.
Four classes are scheduled and attendance at only one is required to receive certification.
The dates and locations are June 4 at the Colon Township Fire Hall; and June 11, 18 and 25 at the sheriff’s department. Each class runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and includes a break for lunch.
Participants must be at least 12 years old by the date of the class they plan to attend.
There is no cost, however, participants must reserve a space. Event organizers said space is limited at each of the four classes.
Registration can be done by phoning 467-9045, ext. 221. The participant’s name, address, date of birth and a contact number must be provided at the time of registration.
