Members of the White Pigeon Collaborative Team, a group of community volunteers looking to improve the village, is pursuing a bingo night as a fundraiser toward development of a sidewalk.
The proposed sidewalk would extend from the village limit to an area near U.S. 131.
During the group’s monthly meeting last week, members agreed such an event would require at least five volunteers in hopes of raising more than $1,200. The figure has been identified in order to qualify for a matching grant from Modern Woodmen for the Sidewalks For Safety project.
Team members said they are open to any suggestions that would help draw a large crowd.
The idea of a fundraiser through Culver’s restaurant has been presented and remains under consideration, according to Team member Perri Saunders.
Meanwhile, a grant for a dog park has been submitted and Team members are expected to know more about the potential funding source at its next meeting.
Its next scheduled meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at White Pigeon Township Library.
