Constantine School Board President resigns

John Shuler, president of the Constantine Public Schools Board of Education, has resigned his position. Shuler served on the board for 11 years.

A clarity/factual hearing was set for today, July 2, regarding the second of two petitions seeking his recall. That hearing has been canceled.

The move comes after an attempt to recall Shuler was suspended at the advice of legal counsel, which advised the original recall petition be rejected.

According to the petition, the attempted recall’s origin stemmed from a May 7 school board work session at Constantine High School, where Shuler is accused of allegedly making inappropriate statements to a pair of constituents.
