The St. Joseph County Road Commission didn’t have to look far to find its new managing director.
Members of the road commission board agreed Monday to offer the position to John Lindsey. He joined the Centreville-based agency 8 1/2 years ago and serves as director of fleet and facilities.
A 57-year-old lifelong Bronson resident, Lindsey previously spent 30 years in the private sector as owner of a small trucking company and later as a fleet maintenance manager.
He will replace Chris Minger, who plans to retire at the end of September.
Lindsey’s salary will be $105,000 annually as head of the road commission, which operates on an annual budget of about $7 million.
