Sturgis woman arraigned in embezzlement case

A Sturgis woman has been arraigned after she was accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from her employer.

State police said 43-year-old Jill Schmidt was arraigned this week after it was alleged she stole the money from BHS Group, a property/real-estate company for which she worked until last year.

She had been an employee at the Sturgis business as an office manager for a number of years, according to authorities.

Bond was set at $25,000.
