New school board member in Constantine named

Terry Burgess was appointed last week to fill an open seat on the Constantine Public Schools Board of Education.

The vacancy was a result of board member Pat Touse moving out of state.

Burgess, Andrew Peters, Tyson Platz, Tim Baker, Jason Herlein and Cheryl Moord were all interviewed for the position.

All candidates said their No. 1 concern was the education of students and that communication is the key, and several candidates said they’d like to see more pride instilled in students in the school system.

Burgess, a former board member, will serve his term through the end of 2020.
