Styrofoam recycling resumes

Westside Landfill Recycling Center confirmed Tuesday it will continue its quarterly Styrofoam recycling collection, resuming the program this weekend.

Fabius Township Supervisor John Kroggel, who has helped organize the collection since its inception a few years ago, said he is prepared to go ahead with Saturday’s event.

It will take place 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 60050 Roberts Road, on the east side of the landfill.

Kroggel said all items must be clean, and free of food and food residue.

Styrofoam items accepted include dinnerware, take-out containers, meat and fish trays, egg cratons, packing materials and foam peanuts if bagged separately.

Insulation board and fire-retardant foam are not recyclable.
