Virtual race will benefit Constantine fireworks

Time is running out to qualify for a T-shirt for the Constantine Firecracker 4K virtual run.

Sponsored by Constantine Community Fitness Center, the event is being organized by Kathy Messner. She said registration must be done on or before Friday in order to receive a shirt.

The event is a virtual run/walk fundraiser for Constantine’s Fourth of July fireworks. Even though the fireworks will not be deployed on July 4, Messner said funds from the event will purchase fireworks that will be shot off at some point this year.

Participants in the virtual race are asked to pick any distance and route, including on the road, a trail, a treadmill or a track, for example. Then, Messner encouraged participants to post a photo on Facebook with the event’s hashtags — # ConstantineVirtual Firecracker4k or #FalconStrong, along with your time.

Anyone who would like to make a donation and not participate in the 4K can send a check of any amount to the village of Constantine at 115 White Pigeon St. 49042.

Messner asked that checks be made out to Village of Constantine Fireworks.

A link to the 4K website can be found on the village’s homepage under “calendar” then “special events” tab.
