Ernie Greshaw, 81

Ernest F. Greshaw Jr., age 81, of Burr Oak, passed away Tuesday morning, June 8, 2021 at his home with his family at his side.
Ernie was born November 25, 1939 in Sturgis, son of the late Ernest and Rosalyn (Sweeney) Greshaw. He graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1957, and attended Olivet College.
Ernie married Beverly Wegner, on June 2, 1963, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Sturgis, by the Rev. Herbert Heidenreich.
He worked for Doerr Products, in Burr Oak, until their closing. He later worked as Sexton for Burr Oak Township, and drove school bus for Burr Oak Community Schools. For many years he made, sold and rented picnic tables and was known as the picnic table man. He also was a salesman for Fackler Monument Company.
For over 20 years he played fast pitch softball in the Sturgis League, for the Burr Oak Merchants and the Orange Machine, until his children were old enough to play in sports. Then he enjoyed coaching and following Kendra and Craig’s sporting events through little league, high school and college. In his later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren.
Ernie and Bev enjoyed riding their mopeds, bowling, camping and most of all playing cards. Ernie made a special table that served as a dining table for as many as 14. When the eating was over the table cloth came off and the cards began. When the table was not being used in the pole building, it traveled with them on all their camping trips.
Ernie is survived by his wife and best buddy, Beverly, daughter Kendra (Greg) Gwin of Vicksburg, son Craig (Margaret) Greshaw of Zeeland and grandchildren, Stacey (Aaron) Behr, Daniel Gwin, Claire, Ben, and Charlotte Greshaw. Ernie is also survived by a brother, Paul (Mary) Greshaw of Grandville and sisters, DeMaris (Jerry) Russell of Mattawan and Marlayna Geegh of Kendallville, Indiana
