Thelma Brenneman, 98

Thelma M. Brenneman, age 98, of Sturgis, passed away Friday evening, January 21, 2022 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born February 3, 1923 in Richmond, Indiana daughter of the late Carl and Lena (Martindale) Byers.
Thelma resided in Sturgis since 1946, coming from Richmond.
On November 18, 1945 she married Earl Brenneman in Richmond, Indiana. He died September 16, 1993.
Thelma retired in 1983 from Sturgis Public Schools following 16 years of dedicated employment as a recess aid at Wall School and she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and home maker.
She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where she was a member of several church circles. She enjoyed reading, traveling and loved walking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by two sons: Carl S. (Debby Mathis) Brenneman of Sturgis and Earl (Karina) Brenneman of Elkhart; daughters-in-law: Mary Beth Brenneman and Elizabeth Peugeot both of Sturgis; five grandchildren: Skip (Stacey) Brenneman of Sturgis, Kerri (Bryan) Bradley of Chicago, Jeff (Michelle Welch) Brenneman of Brooklyn, New York, Lisa (Mike) Prothero of Washington, DC and Kristina (Nathan) Campbell of Lansing; seven great grandchildren: Morgen and Ryan Brenneman, Matthew, Michael, Megan, Anna and Jack Bradley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister: Maxine Dalbey.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Thelma M. Brenneman will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M.  The Rev. Sue Babb will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
