Karen Morris, 68

Karen Darcy Morris, age 68, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 17, 2022 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Centreville.
She was born September 28, 1953 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Roger Dale and Patricia Mae (Ankney) Kyle.
Karen resided in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area most of her life with the exception of the 5 years she lived in Holland, Michigan.
On September 4, 1976 she married Thomas Morris in Sturgis.
Karen had been employed by Midwest Plastics in Sturgis, Greenfield Research in Howe, Indiana and the Campbell Mushroom Farm in Brighton, Indiana and she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Karen and Tom were very active and gave many hours of their time to the annual Sturgis Toy Run for many years. She enjoyed collecting clowns, traveling to casinos and crocheting. Each summer she would begin crocheting hats for children and beginning in the late fall and into winter she and Tom would fill area blessing boxes with those hats. She had a true appreciation for animals and loved her dogs.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband Tom; three sons: David Shaffer of Centreville and Tommy Shaffer and Paul Morris both of Sturgis; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one brother: Randy (Jana) Kyle of Burr Oak and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Diane “Barney” Fast and Lou Ellen Leonard.
In accordance with Karen’s wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Karen Morris will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 26th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis.
In honoring Karen’s love for animals the family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to St. Joseph County Animal Control 652 E. Main Street, Centreville, MI 49032.
