Man arrested after fleeing police

Sturgis police arrested a man who attempted to flee from officers following an incident last weekend.

According to a department media release, officers pulled over a car shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday at West Street and North Centerville Road. Officers said the vehicle was believed to be connected with a missing juvenile.

The vehicle stopped long enough for a female to exit before it fled from the scene. The suspect vehicle crashed into a Sturgis patrol car, causing extensive damage and injuring an officer.

The suspect then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended, officers said.

He was charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and was wanted on four warrants.
