Anna Irene Johansen, age 90, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Upjohn Community Care Center in Kalamazoo. She was born November 9, 1931 in Constantine, a daughter of Harry and Freda (Thorne) Brown.
Anna graduated from Constantine High School in 1949 where she was a trumpet player in the band as well Majorette. She later graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in education and was a member and Marjorette for the marching band and member of Alphi Chi Omega sorority. Anna also received her Masters degree from WMU.
On February 17, 1951 she married Richard (Dick) Johansen at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine. He preceded her in death June 23, 2007.
Anna was employed as a teacher and administrator for Constantine Public Schools for many years.
Surviving are her sons Richard (Linda) Johansen of Felicity, OH, Michael (Karen) Johansen of Marcellus, grandchildren Eric (Katie) Johansen, Sara (Scott) Klimek, Jegar (Mindy) Johansen, Lacie (Dan) Gunnett, and Tanner (fianc’e Tiffany Lotts) Johansen, and many great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters and brother Freda Baumgarter, Mary Jane Dunsworth, and Harry J. Brown.
Per Anna’s request cremation has taken place. Family memorial services will be held at a later date.
