Shaffer announces candidacy

Lockport Township resident Rick Shaffer has announced his candidacy for Second District St. Joseph County Commissioner.

Shaffer has served as a county commissioner on two previous occasions.

On the ballot during the Aug. 4 primary election, the second district seat will represent Florence and Lockport townships, part of Fabius Township, and part of the city of Three Rivers.

It is a newly created district that does not feature an incumbent.

Shaffer, 67, is director of outreach patient services for Covered Bridge Healthcare.

  1. Rick has evidently determined that a government job is much easier than having to get up every morning. Easy money with little work. Wouldn’t everybody enjoy that? You have been feeding at the public trough for as long as I can remember, Rick. Either get a real job or retire.
