Out and About – Week of June 12th

This week is Water Festival week. Everything starts with the Water Festival Parade, which steps off at 7 PM Thursday evening. The rain date is Friday at the same time. This is the 66th Annual Water Festival and it seems to get better every year. This event started out as the “Water Carnival” and one of the highlights back then was the float parade on the river. The parade now is made up of approximately eighty entries and there is a new theme every year. The theme this year is “Three Rivers Goes Tropical”. As always, there are activities for every member of the family.

June 18 is Fathers Day, so don’t forget to do something special for that Father of yours. One thing you might to do is take him over to the Elks Lodge, located at 603 West Michigan Avenue in Three Rivers for the Seventh Annual Bicycle Rodeo. The rodeo runs from 10 AM until noon, and kids thirteen and younger get in for FREE. There will be free helmets, plus food and drinks for all attending. Each child will have the opportunity to win a FREE bike

For you Classic Car enthusiasts, you’ll want to mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 21. Here’s another opportunity to have lunch and learn something. The Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce will host a “Lunch and Learn” event on Tuesday, June 27 from noon until 1 PM. Rodney S. Jones will speak on “Retirement Income for Everyday Investors”. The cost to attend is $5.00. This session is sponsored by Morgan Stanley Investment Management. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to info@trchamber.com. The Chamber Event Center is located at 1116 North Main Street, Three Rivers.

The village of Constantine would like to invite all movie-goers to “Movies in the Park”. During July and August, movies will be shown at the Little League Field in Constantine. Here’s a schedule to check out:

July 4 – Before the fireworks at 7 PM, “Super Mario Brother”

August 25 – At 7 PM “The Goonies”.
Please bring your own chairs and blankets for seating.

On Saturday, July 8, there will be a 3-hour fishing tournament for local youth. The tournament is hosted by Three Rivers Area Mentoring (TRAM) and takes place at the Corey Lake Marina, across from Happy Landing , 59640 County Line Road.

Registration begins at 7:30 AM, with breakfast provided. Lunch will be provided during the weigh-in at noon. TRAM is looking for participants, volunteers and sponsors. Please contact TRAM at (269)278-8726 for more information.

Table manners aren’t as important as they once were. Here are a few suggestions, if you wish to dine properly:

Don’t sit a foot off from the table, or sit jammed up against it.
Don’t eat soup from the end of the spoon, but from the side. Don’t gurgle, or draw in your breath, or make other noises when eating soup.
Don’t spread out your elbows when you are cutting your meat. Keep your elbows close to your side.

See you Out and About!
