Farmers Hall of Fame to include local farmer

A St. Joseph County farmer will be inducted into the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame during a ceremony later this week.

Ira Krupp has been in the agriculture industry for 37 years and owns 200 acres of land in Mendon Township. He grows row crops, corn and soybeans.

Hall of Fame directors said Krupp’s management demonstrates a high level of commitment to agriculture and environmental protection.

Krupp, a Vicksburg resident, retired in 2011 as an extension educator with MSU Extension. He then continued to grow and expand his family’s five-generation farm.

The 2023 Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be Saturday at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds in Marshall. Krupp will be one of four people inducted during the program.

  1. Ira was an amazing and caring agent for his clientele while I worked for him at MSU extension. He also was very close to his roots in Kalamazoo County. He deserves all the recognition for his hard work and volunteering efforts in the counties and young people he served over the years.
