Pat Maher, 89

Patricia Jane “Pat” Maher, age 89, of Three Rivers, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Optalis Healthcare in Three Rivers. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 19, 1933 the daughter of Harley Rathwell Edwards and Geraldine (Walker) Edwards. She attended school in Ohio, and while working in a sales office in Ohio met her future husband. Pat was married to William Paul Maher on November 27, 1954 in Avon Lake, Ohio. They moved to Michigan in 1956, returned briefly to Ohio in 1962 before settling in Mendon. In 1979 they moved to Mattawan. Pat was a homemaker who also worked as an administrative assistant at Glen Oaks Community College and at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She was a former member of T.O.P.S., and the V.F.W. Auxiliary at Decatur Post 6248. She was an avid reader, enjoyed Word-Search puzzles, and researching the family genealogy.

Pat is survived by eight children, Paula Clouse of Lawton, OK,  William E. Maher of Quartzite, AZ,  Elizabeth Waite of Three Rivers,  Roberta “Bobbie” (Ollie II) Wise of Constantine,  Kathleen (Dennis) Young of Three Rivers,  Charles (Laura) Maher of Suffolk, VA,  Gerald (Nancy) Maher of Three Rivers,  and Patrick C. (Jennifer) Maher of Syracuse, IN; twenty-six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Maher in 2005; infant son, Patrick E. Maher in 1963; brother, Neal Edwards; two sons-in-law, Tom Clouse and Ralph Waite; and daughter-in-law, Roberta Maher.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 pm Monday, October 2, 2023 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. In keeping with her wishes, Pat will privately be laid to rest without ceremony next her husband at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to the Susan G.
