Constantine to receive state funds for road improvements

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has announced funding being made available to 47 communities, including Constantine, for road improvements.

The Community Service Infrastructure Fund will provide $250,000 to the village. It is targeting the funds for Florence Road, between White Pigeon Road and Cemetery Street; Industrial Drive; and Meyers Street.

Repaving will take place by next summer.

  1. The State is providing $250,000 in taxpayer money while the village council is taking $500,000 of village taxpayers to pay for repairs to roads regularly or exclusively used by industries. Meanwhile the industries are not paying anything beyond their basic tax tribunal reduced taxes. Add it to the $20M debt for sewer, $8M debt fire department, 3 -4 new independent tax authorities run by unelected officials. Ain’t that good governance at its best!
