Dennis D. Yoder, age 85, of Colon, entered into rest late Tuesday evening, April 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 1, 1938, at home in Centreville, son of the late David and Mary (Yoder) Yoder.
Dennis resided in St. Joseph County his entire life.
On May 5, 1966, he married Alma Hostetler in Centreville, and they were blessed with 57 years, 11 months, and 4 days together.
He had been employed by Paramount Furniture Company in Sturgis for several years until leaving the factory to follow his love of farming.
He was a member of Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife: Alma; children: Mary Jane (Yoder) and Amos Bontrager of Ligonier, IN, Allen and Marie (Bontrager) Yoder of Colon, Paul and Wilma (Kauffman) Yoder of Coldwater, JoAnn (Yoder) and Alfred Yoder of Colon, Marvin and Irene (Troyer) Yoder of Converse, IN, Katie Ellen (Yoder) and Perry Schwartz of Topeka, IN, Sheldon and Sarah (Miller) Yoder of Marcellus, Lawane and Esther (Helmuth) Yoder of Sturgis, Ruby Ann (Yoder) and Ferman Hostetler of Millersburg, IN and Floyd and Rosanna (Bontrager) Yoder of Burr Oak; 47 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren; five sisters; three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter: Regina Schwartz, sister: Edith Miller, brothers: Willis Yoder and Melvin Yoder and brother-in-law: Adlai Schrock.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11th, and all day Friday, April 12th at the Allen Yoder residence located at 26915 Mountain Rd., Colon, MI where funeral services will begin at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, April 13th. The Home Ministry will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Old Order Amish Cemetery in Centreville.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is assisting the family with arrangements.
